Hi, my name is José Péricles, i’m a 3d modeler from Brazil, im into figurative sculpting, creatures, animals, everything towards organic shapes :).

能否介绍一下您的工作经历和参与的项目?
Here im Brazil we work mostly to advertising, so mainly of the work that i did was from companies here in Brazil and south america, i also worked for Modern Life sculpting likeness for printing and some private commissions for digital sculpting.

I use Zbrush most and some maya, 3dsmax. Zbrush for sculpting and organic shapes, maybe if i need to do block some props just for retopology later i use Zbrush as well. Maya and 3dsmax i use for rendering, uvs, texturing and modeling some assets.
大多数情况我使用ZBrush工作,也会用一些maya和3dsmax。ZBrush用来雕刻和塑造有机形,有时候也会用ZBrush做一些附件的重新拓扑。我使用maya和max来做渲染,分uv,贴图和一些道具的建模工作。

你在工作流程中需要注意的事情是什么?
It depends, if i’ll sculpt a human figure i try to get the best references from the model and i focus on the silhouette at first, then trying to block the shapes and the anatomy using the references to try to make it as subtle and realistic as possible. If i got creature for example i try to use the anatomy as base and make it believable according with some animals and human anatomy to make sense. For animals i think its very hard, because its hard to find references and our minds are no used to remember horse’s shapes like we do on humans.
具体需要看情况,如果我要雕刻一个人体,首先,我会尽量去找最好的参考,并十分注意剪影线的塑造,然后锁定大形,至于人体解剖(结构)方面则是通过参考,尽可能细微真实的去表现。如果我去创作一个生物,我会试着以解剖学作为基础,通过一些动物和人类的解剖知识使这个生物尽可能的真实可信。动物话,我认为是十分难的,因为很难找到参考,而且我们的思维习惯于马的形状(把马的形状套用到其他动物上),就像我们熟知人类的结构那样。

您的作品中人物的神态都非常的棒,栩栩如生!在这个方面有什么技巧可以分享吗?
Well, Lanteri said on his book to always use nature as reference, nothing would be as fresh as nature, so i try to use references and not rely on what i think its right and sculpt from my head since i always will be learning if i use the references correctly and no repeat the same stuff that is printed on my head, and of course a lot of practice.
Lanteri在他的书上说过,用大自然作参考(不禁想到老罗说的“像大自然一样自然”),没有什么能像大自然一样新鲜。所以我尝试着用参考,而不是用我认为正确的方式去雕刻塑造。我始终在学习,如果我用过正确的参考资料,那就不用再重复同样的事情了,因为已经都印在我的脑子里了,当然这是需要许多训练的。

就我个人而言,我非常喜欢您的写实作品,人物的,动物的。您的作品一般都具有非常丰富的细节, 能否介绍一下是如何抓住这些细节的?
I really appreciate it! It was kind of the same thing on the past question, but to try to detail a little bit more i’ll try to explain how it works on my head. I learn anatomy all the muscles origin and insertions and stuff but that don’t mean you’ll make a good sculpture because if you only focus on anatomy your model will lack on freshness, and freshness is what make a sculpture look natural, appealing for the eyes, that i think you will only achieve by observing how smooth and subtle the body is on those classics sculptures or nowdays on scans, its always very very subtle, even if a person is very muscular or very skinny.
我感到十分荣欣!但这个问题和上个有点像啊!不过我可以试着讲的更细致些。我认为只学习解剖学,肌肉的起始位置和穿插关系并不能让你作出一个好的雕塑,那是因为你只专注与解剖学,而缺乏对血肉之躯(甚至是灵魂)的理解。而血肉(与灵魂)才能让雕刻看上去更自然,更吸引人的眼睛。我认为在那些经典雕塑上,或者是如今的扫描模型上,就算这个人拥有非常瘦弱的躯体,你只能通过观察或光滑或细腻的身体去实现你的目标,这一切总是那么那么的微妙。

您觉得什么样的练习能帮助到提高制作写实角色的能力?平时您都做哪些练习呢?
Well i think a very good source of study is of course Edouard Lanteri’s book for human figure and use scans to observe and for reference, try to sculpt a torso from a scan an you’ll learn a tons or use an 360º references from a model found on many websites, thats what i usually do, i buy an 360º pictures from a model and try to sculpt it, its very helpful.
我觉得一个很好地学习来源就是Edouard Lanteri’s关于人体的书,也可以使用扫描(的模型)去观察和参考。通过尝试着参考扫描模型去雕刻一个躯干,你能学到很多。也可以在很多网站上找一些模型的360°全方位照片,这是我通常会去做的,我买了一组模型的360°全方位照片,然后尝试着去雕刻他,真的是非常的有用。

平时除了工作之外,您还有别的兴趣爱好吗?
Actually not many, i play video games :).
也没啥特别的,我爱玩游戏。

中国的CG行业起步较晚,您对中国CG新手们有什么建议吗?
Really? to be honest i only see awesome work coming from China, you guys are crazy! if you guys started late and are on that level already, i don’t have much to say, just keep doing whatever you guys are doing. I think i should be the one asking advices!
真的吗?老实说,我看到的从中国来的作品都老牛逼了,你们特么的真牛逼!如果说你们起步的晚,还这么牛逼的话,我真的没啥好多说的!继续牛逼的干下去吧!我想我才是那个需要被建议的人呢!

您有没有对喜欢您作品的朋友说些什么呢?
I don’t think i have fans but i’m very glad if somebody enjoys the type of stuff that i do, it’s always good to have people that enjoy figurative sculpting! Thank you so much!
